Activity

Step 1: dowload a firewall

• Download one of the recommended firewalls in class
• ZoneAlarm - http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/catalog/products/sku_list_za.jsp?lid=pdb_za1
• Outpost - http://www.agnitum.com/
• SyGate - http://soho.sygate.com/
• Norton Personal Firewall - http://www.symantec.com/sabu/nis/npf/

Step 2: install the firewall

• Install and configure the firewall that you downloaded in Step 1.

Step 3: test the firewall

Try connecting to the computer with the firewall using the different techniques used in Lab 9

Step 4: analyze the firewall

Analyze the results of your tests

• Was the firewall easy to use?
• Was the firewall easy to configure?
• Did the firewall seem to work?
• Were there many false positives?
• Were there any false negatives?
